The Deutsche Presse-Agentur GmbH (dpa) (German Press Agency) is the leading German news agency and one of the largest in the world. Their correspondents report around the clock in word, images, graphics and sound from all over the world.
Introduction of news agency system “Ines”
The news market is undergoing rapid change. The Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) is responding to this challenge by creating new production infrastructure. This offers editors a powerful tool with which to carry out future work on a faster basis and with greater flexibility with regards to adapting to changing customer requirements. Maintaining dpa’s high quality with regards to reliability and speed, without any restrictions, is another important goal.
dpa decided to establish a completely new production infrastructure in order to keep pace with changing conditions in the media industry and the rapid development of online media. diva-e was commissioned to design and implement this after a comprehensive three-month evaluation and selection process. Using the Czech news agency CTK’s successful MRS system as a core, adaptations were made to suit dpa’s needs over a project period of about two-and-a-half years. Special project challenges include implementation during operation, as well as simultaneous integration of all existing databases.
