diva-e creates a fresh e-food platform for EDEKA Handelsgesellschaft Nord GmbH

In October 2013, diva-e began development on a flexible shop-in-shop system for EDEKA Nord. Since March 2015, customers have been able to shop online for their groceries in selected supermarkets in the region. Additional regions are being connected gradually. In addition to implementing the online shop, which is tailored to end users' needs, the project created an administrative interface for the supermarkets. This allowed store managers to individually manage their range of goods and to conduct market administration and order processing.

The online platform had to cover the individual requirements of retailers and be connected to pre-existing systems such as the merchandise management system, the image database and the product information system.

An individualised platform with focus on Edeka Nord’s independent retailers

An individual online platform was developed that took into account the need to connect to existing systems, which enabled Edeka Nord’s individual retailers to connect their stores and promote their range of goods.

Operation

The specialists at diva-e developed the EDEKA online shop on the basis of open source CMS Hippo and the shop solution Konakart, which were supplemented with extensive in-house development. In addition, the search solution Solr was integrated and the proprietary inventory management system EBUSwin, the Canto Cumulus image database and the EDEKA internal product information system were connected. Particular focus was placed on the scalability and performance of the solution.
