The new B2B sales platform for ifm

Measuring, controlling, regulating - when it comes to groundbreaking automation technology, the ifm group of companies is the ideal partner and worldwide industry leader in automation technology. Since the company was founded in 1969 ifm has been developing, producing and selling sensors, controls and systems for industrial automation worldwide. Today, the ifm group of companies, which is now in its second generation of family management, is one of the global industry leaders with more than 6,000 employees in over 70 countries. As a medium-sized group of companies ifm combines the internationality and innovative strength of a growing group of companies with the flexibility and customer proximity of a medium-sized company. On this basis the ifm group of companies achieved a turnover of 775 million Euro.

diva-e, WOW AND HOW and ifm created a completely new sales channel for the company with the newly developed international B2B platform. ifm presents customers with a modern, contemporary look and offers them a completely new shopping experience, true to the motto: find quickly - inform easily - buy uncomplicated. With the new sales platform ifm opens up another sales channel and takes a big step in the field of e-commerce. In addition to the many opportunities to discover the products, the sales platform offers further information about ifm: latest technologies, company news, download portals, revision of all technical product data and much more.

Replacement of the old e-shop by modern web standards

The old website and the former e-shop were replaced by a scalable and open system based on web standards with an attractive, modern design, created by WOW AND HOW. The clear menu structure and the new colour and image worlds should provide the customer with a pleasant shopping experience. Furthermore, the website can be used for all end devices (desktop, tablet, smartphone), including the shop function (responsive design).

A special feature of the platform is the skilful dovetailing of content and commerce: the customer is advised on the possible uses of the products via elaborately designed content and is thus guided to the products via this advice.

Parallel to the project, a second diva-e team supported ifm in creating the conditions for the rollout of the sales platform worldwide by rolling out the already established e-shops in further countries.

  • Integration of a full text search engine similar to Google

  • Product portfolio with product groups and product families

  • Areas of product news & industries are clearer - more structured

  • New area of technologies with current topics

  • Up to 5 sales arguments for the product are displayed on the product detail pages

  • Product group-spanning product comparison with up to 3 products

  • Products can be added to the new product comparison in many ways

  • On different pages the registered customer is shown his customer-specific prices

  • Content and products are presented and distributed in 27 languages and 45 countries

  • There are more than 14,000 products with many product data, operating instructions, CAD drawings, etc.

  • Support also in project preparation for strategic system selection: E-Commerce system and CMS solution

Usability & security combined

The e-shop has become more user-friendly and has a modern security concept. All calls are now only made via SSL (https). Its functions are now integrated everywhere on the website:

  • Quick order & CSV import

  • Order via OCI possible
